Our overall company philosophy is to manage landscapes in the most natural way possible - and growing to the shape of gum balls and hockey pucks are not natural. Shearing trees and shrubs forces dense growth on the outer areas of the plant. This practice invites diseases through lower air and light penetration, shortens a plant’s lifespan and greatly reduces flowering. Quercus Landscapes removes about 1/3rd of the largest canes each spring and then only prunes dead flowers, tall growth and obstructions to windows, doors, sidewalks, etc. This allows plants to grow to their natural shapes and makes a huge difference in the look and feel of your property.
